Sunday, January 2013 I took this photo while on longest bridge Suramadu the meaning of the combination of two of Surabaya city and Madura Island, Sura means sharks and Baya mean crocodiles and the location of the position longest bridge over sea border Madura Strait.
From a distance I stopped the car to take photos of the city of Surabaya with the storey buildings and surrounding houses stood Surabaya's population is very dense at all.
Indeed, the city of Surabaya is very much up to 3 million not including immigrants from outside the city and outside the island. Surabaya is the capital and largest city of East Java in Indonesia after Jakarta as the capital of Indonesia. Surabaya is the gate once the Majapahit Empire, which is at the mouth of Kali Mas. Even anniversary of Surabaya set as the date May 31, 1293.
Mongol troops coming from the sea was described as SURA fish (sharks / bold) and Raden Wijaya forces coming from the land described as BAYA (crocodile / danger), so it literally means the courage to face the coming danger threatens. So the day of victory is celebrated as the anniversary of Surabaya.
